Home Surveillance Cameras & Systems
Advances in Internet technology have made it much easier and more affordable to keep an eye on your property even if you're a long way from home. Gone are the days when you had to rely on expensive home surveillance systems for security if you could even afford the high cost. You’ll have less worrying about your family, property, and strangers roaming neighborhoods looking for any paperwork they could use to steal your identity and more peace of mind.
All you need to set up a top-notch surveillance system these days is some hardware, a reliable high-speed Internet connection, and the knowledge, patience or both the set the system up. If you're planning to use video surveillance a dial-up connection won't work. You'll need a high-speed connection.
In a nutshell all you do is place home surveillance cameras in strategic locations throughout your home, thread them together and connect them to a personal computer. Now, depending on your home security system, you can set the surveillance cameras to survey your home and the surrounding areas recording the goings on via motion detection or at a set rate per second. You can playback the video recordings on your computer monitor which records the video to your hard disk drive (HDD).
But the best part may be that you don't even have to be home to watch the video taped by your home surveillance cameras. Since you're computer is connected to the Internet, you can watch your video from anywhere in the world. All you have to do is log in to your computer system with your username and password. Now you can watch the live video feed or scan through the recorded video sequences, whichever you prefer. Another option that may be a bit simpler for the technically challenged is to check on your home via a single home surveillance camera set up through your IP (Internet Protocol) address. When you have this option set up, you don't even have to login. All you'll need to do is link directly to your IP which is no more difficult than visiting a web site. You'll have a live video stream 24 hours per day just like your own security webcam. Think of the possibilities. You can check on your children from work or anywhere else. You can check on the babysitter to see what's going on when you're not around. And if you have high school kids, you can make sure they're not throwing wild parties while you're away. Both systems are inexpensive and fairly easy to set up but the second system is a bit easier to set up and use. But both systems allow you to log in at anytime and check on the status of your residence. You can also check stored video recordings and change your settings at your leisure. Considering the low cost and peace of mind provided by combining today's home surveillance systems and the Internet, it's hard to go wrong. Just look at the options, decide which one is right for you, and you'll have a home surveillance system installed faster than you can blink an eye.
